Demystifying Apricot Kernel Oil

Apricot Kernel Oil is something that I discovered through a European facialist awhile back. Although not commonly used, it’s a skincare ingredient that really pushes the envelope when it comes to smooth and soft skin. It’s a lovely extract from nature that has an astounding number of benefits associated with it.

It’s for this reason why Apricot Kernel Oil is the highlighted ingredient in the TAY Eye Treatment. Because the eye area is one of the most delicate skin areas on your body, it’s most susceptible to dryness and visible signs of aging when not taken care of properly.

Known by its scientific name, Prunus armeniaca, the apricot seed yields a great abundance of oil when carefully extracted from its brown hull. This oil is easily absorbed into the skin and provides an extraordinary amount of Vitamin E, which is great for anti-aging and providing hydration. It has a higher percentage of these nutrients than some other herbal extracts on the market. By keeping the area moisturized, it’s easier for your body to maintain elasticity and suppleness naturally found in your skin—that’s something you want to preserve as long as you can. What I like about this natural and organic eye treatment is the high concentration of this potent ingredient of Apricot Kernel. It’s been formulated to leave no greasy residue behind as it quickly absorbs and starts hydrating the orbital area. For me, skincare should be working its best in the deep layers of skin and should avoid potentially clogging pores.

Be a beauty creator for a day

We’ve partnered with our friends at BIRCHBOX to create a very unique contest. The Grand Prize winner will get a chance to work with our natural chemistry labs to create a body lotion. That’s right. Tell us your favorite scent, desired textures and preferences. The packaging will also come with a customized label with your name on it (of course we need to credit the inspiration) How does this all work?

The process will start in the form of a questionnaire. It lists a set of questions that will be discussed in a live phone call that follows a few days later. Things like ‘what scents do you like’, ‘what texture of lotion do you prefer: thick/thin’, ‘what natural shade would you like the product to be’, etc.

When we set up a time to chat, our chemist will be on the line to take notes and discuss about how we will put together your formula.

In the meantime, we also have another staffer working on the customized label for your prize. When things are all sorted out with the chemist, we will help you name the formula and then it will be set into carving.

Give us a few weeks to experiment with the formula, make sure it passes our quality testing, and you’ll have some great conversation pieces for your vanity.

Good luck and enjoy! Stay tuned here on Tumblr to see what the final jars look like.

Belated Resolutions

It’s been awhile since I’ve been here. I missed you, tumblr! I hope you have a happy new year.

I’m a smidge tardy with my resolutions this year but I know I’ve got to do them. Time goes so fast and if I don’t do them now, they’ll be a part of my spring cleaning ritual.

Here goes:

1. To dress better at home.

I just had dinner with a friend last night and told her this new resolve of mine. I remember during the holidays that I put on a pair of sweats that quite honestly, I think I wore in college. So, I’m done with it! I’m going to buy some really nice things to wear so that I won’t have to snatch on a coat when the FedEx guy knocks on the door.

2. Hobby.

I’m inspired by my boyfriend who learned how to start playing an instrument 3 years ago. I think I’m going to choose an instrument. And also build up more skills in learning the hustle. I love dancing and I miss it.

3. Eating habits.

Doing more regular detox diets are going straight on my calendar. I had a good friend use CLEAN and came out with awesome results. It’s time for me to get more serious about this, so I promise.

4. Reach out to my friends again.

At this point in my busy life, it’s accentuated that time is a limitation. As a friend wrote, it’s best to know and use time as a currency. There’s only so much to go around. I want to reach out to my friends that share the same values in life and connect on a heartfelt level. I love snail mail, so I hope to send out some postcards this month to kind friends.

Of course this list is a work-in-progress. But I’d love to hear what you are doing too. I could always use suggestions.
